THE 208 SQUADRON STAINED GLASS WINDOW
Designed and produced to the glory of God by Mrs Karen Newby
Dedicated by the Rt Revd J D G Kirkham MA, Bishop to Her Majesty's Forces on Wednesday 10 January 2001
Throughout Christian history, the translucent qualities of glass have been used to symbolise the light
of God shining on and through our greatest endeavours. Through this window, we pray that the same light
will focus our vision, now and in the future. This window in St Mihangel's Church at RAF Valley commemorates
the efforts, dedication and courage of staff and students of 208 Squadron in imparting and maintaining
the standards of flying within the Royal Air Force. These standards are symbolised by the blessing,
presentation and wearing of pilot wings as depicted in the window. Wings which have indeed been eagerly
sought and deservedly won. May those who follow in the path of this tradition remain vigilant and
'rise up on wings as eagles'.

THE 208 SQUADRON PRAYER
Almighty God, you have promised that those who wait on you shall renew their strength, they shall rise up on wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. We commend to your fatherly love and care all who serve in the Royal Air Force, and especially we offer our prayers for the life and work of 208 Squadron.
Encourage and inspire us in all our efforts, so that we may be a safeguard to our Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth, and a sure defence to our Nation. Help us to fulfil our duties with honour, goodwill and integrity, and grant that we may prove worthy successors to those who have gone before us who, by their valour and sacrifice, did nobly save their day and generation. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
