COMBAT SUPPORT AIR OPERATIONS

The very essence of air power is the inherent ability of air platforms and weapon systems to switch rapidly from one mission subset to another. Combat support air operations cover the full spectrum of air power roles and missions, and emphasise the utility of air power around the spectrum of the conflict. In certain scenarios, combat support air operations may well dominate the activities of the air and space forces available to the commander. Similarly, air vehicles may be employed to support maritime or land forces undertaking other combat roles. Combat support air operations can be divided into 7 major categories (titled in orange).
